Here’s some information about me. I was born in Mexico City and lived there until I was four years old. Spanish was my first language and thanks to my parent’s strictness about speaking Spanish only at home and English during school and with friends. Thanks to this I was able to dominate both languages in its entirety. In January of 1999 I began to teach and develop the Spanish program for Clayton Academy and Preschool, its been challenging but very rewarding.
Learning a second language has lifelong cognitive benefits, as well as developmental advantages gained during the learning process. Research shows that at every level bilinguals perform better in cognitive tests. Children who learn a second language are better at logical thinking, math and English verbal tests. Exposing children early to another language causes more connections to arise in the chld's brain. Creativity, adaptability, and lateral thinking ability are fostered by exposure to two languages as well as improved capacity of the brain to multi task. I hope to make a change and instill a love for another language and culture.
